Commodity trader with experience in both proprietary physical and futures trading.
-Soybean trader in Cargill`s World Trading Group -Manage physical flows for all non-China destinations, shipping from US, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil and Canada. -Manage proprietary futures account in directional and relative value trading, in collaboration with larger VaR limits of the desk. -Provide market info and trading strategies to other Cargill business units and to key customers via conference calls and weekly recaps -Work to maximize our physical footprint through freight and geographic arbitrage while increasing optionality in sales book to various destinations. -Talk daily with brokers and other traders to gain market insight and contribute to Cargill`s internal S&D and trading bias.
-Manage trading and risk management of Cargill’s Brazilian cash export soybeans book, with volume in excess of 13MMT per year. -Negotiate through brokers, coops and international trading houses in FOB Paranagua paper market as well as FOB vessels through nine other Brazilian ports. -Collaborate with Cargill’s South American Soybean Product Line Leader in flat price and futures spread positioning. -Work directly with logistics, trade execution and origination teams to facilitate active discussions in margins, port efficiencies, farmer selling projections and efficient documentation procedures. -Gather and analyze data on Brazilian trade flows, price data, lineups and logistics to formulate regional and international S&Ds. -Utilize Brazilian origination infrastructure and market intelligence to quickly trade upon, and communicate, cash price movement and identify arbitrage opportunities through collaboration with Cargill offices around the world.
-Trader and CTA for Cargill’s latin american veg oil business, accountable to proprietary soybean oil futures trading budget. -Develop gampeplan and execute futures, options and spreads trading within defined dollar and stress limits on behalf of Cargill and key customers in the Latam region. -Provide full-service risk management- both advisory and discretionary execution (futures, premiums, ocean freight) for limited customers through market presentations, daily gameplans and quarterly meetings. -Fix ocean freight and work directly with contract desks and trade-ex team in assuring efficient execution of vessels -Constantly gather and analyze regional data to contribute to Cargill’s global veg oil and biofuels S&D -Extensive work experience with customers and Cargill facilities throughout the US and Latin America
-Managed an eleven person team for the non-profit social venture at the College of St. Benedict and St. John’s University. Led team through fundraising, marketing, traveling and filmmaking; our student-run organization produced 20-minute documentaries on under-told global issues around the world. -Raised funds to travel and produce documentaries in Uganda and Nepal. The films were then used to raise awareness and support for non-profit organizations functioning in the communities we partnered with abroad
-Learned principles and practices of grain merchandising through cash and futures trading, online courses, and case studies. -Worked with a small team of traders to manage the trading for nine barge-loading grain facilities along the mississippi river.
