Originally from Brazil and now a dedicated rising senior at Johns Hopkins University, my fervor for medicine and Neuroscience drives my every pursuit. From dissecting the intricacies of epilepsy surgery to delving into cutting-edge mental health therapies at Johns Hopkins Medicine, I approach each endeavor with unwavering dedication. Currently, I am actively engaged in research at the Center for Psychedelics and Consciousness Research, where I passionately explore the therapeutic potential of psychedelic interventions. Beyond academia, I've gained invaluable practical experience, from providing medical assistance to performers at the Boston Ballet to contributing to the mission of Boston Children's Hospital. These experiences have not only fortified my professional acumen but have also instilled in me a profound commitment to effecting positive change in the realm of medicine. Eager to leverage my skills and passion to drive meaningful advancements in healthcare.
Trained in the administration of standardized neuropsychological assessments, including the WAIS, WMS, CVLT, and DKEFs, with patients diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia. Conducted clinical rating scales, including the CDR, MADRS, NPI, and SCID. Managed and organized study data in REDCap and maintained detailed documentation in compliance with IRB protocols. Contributed to ongoing research on memory and neurodegenerative disease.
As part of the Center for Psychedelics and Consciousness Research, I'm excited to contribute to PRoMISS: a study investigating the impact of integrating different types of music and sounds with psychedelic experiences on neuroimaging and physiological functions. By examining the synergistic effects of music and altered states of consciousness, our research aims to shed light on the therapeutic potential of psychedelics in mental health treatment, particularly in enhancing our well-being and expanding our understanding of consciousness.
Worked on REHABILITY, a virtual-reality-based digital rehabilitation platform for functional and cognitive applications, supporting literature reviews, project development, and strategic initiatives. Gained hands-on experience translating neuroscience and clinical research into applied rehabilitation technology while collaborating in an international, interdisciplinary environment.
I'm currently conducting research in collaboration with Dr. Marco Grados and his Children Psychiatry Lab at the Johns Hopkins Main Children's Center. Our focus is on understanding and improving the diagnosis and treatment of OCD, ADHD, Tourette's, and Autism. We're exploring questions related to genetics, neurology, and innovative therapies using cutting-edge tools such as neuroimaging, genetic analysis, and behavioral assessments. Our goal is to make a meaningful impact by enhancing diagnoses and personalized treatments for these neurodevelopmental disorders.
Contributed to statistical studies of seizure rates of patients who underwent surgery within the occipito-parietal region of the brain.
Under Dr.Jurriaan Peters in his Localization Lab, I assisted in the retrieval and pre-processing of MRI scans, utilizing both online and local software packages. This work is part of a larger project that involves leveraging neural networks for MRI analysis to help teach AI how to properly detect possible causes of Epilepsy.
