Doctoral research on drug shortages in the research group of Eric Claassen & Linda van de Burgwal
I represent the PEI in the Coordination and Harmonisation of the Existing Systems against Shortages of Medicines – European Network (CHESSMEN) Joint Action. We are participating in the following two work packages: WP7: Digital Information Exchange for Monitoring and reporting medicine shortages WP8: Reducing the likelihood of medicines shortages via preventive and mitigation strategies In addition to the CHESSMEN project, I am the PEI's primary representative in the Medicine Shortages Single Point of Contact (SPOC) Working Party.
At the newly established Centre for Pandemic Vaccines and Therapeutics (ZEPAI), I contributed to the German response to the COVID-19 and monkeypox pandemics. This work included managing the distribution of pandemic vaccines, building databases for supply chain data and communicating with stakeholders (national & international). I am most proud of being responsible for the development of new vaccine demand models.
Member of the shortage management team. Using a data-driven approach, I was responsible for the management of shortages of vaccines and biologicals in Germany. My focus was on influenza vaccine supply and EU related activities.
Secondment to the Vaccine Task Force of the German Ministry of Health. My main tasks were managing vaccine procurement, demand forecasting, answering parliamentary questions, compiling statistics, and inter-agency coordination.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Prof Bernard Van der Zeijst and I provided a weekly updated overview of the race to develop a COVID-19 vaccine. We tracked the development of the most promising vaccines based on clinical trial publications, press releases and other publicly available information. Developed a proof-of-concept cryptocurrency arbitrage trading algorithm that was able to capitalize on inter-exchange price differences. Incorporated in the Netherlands.
