I've worked in a number of different industries including agriculture, rural commodities and solar power before my passion for renewable energy led me to redirect my career in 2011 by becoming a licensed electrician. Since then, my skills have taken me from entering the industry as a tradesman to being responsible for all aspects of infrastructure maintenance management.
As the Construction Manager/Electrical Superintendent for the Wollar Solar Farm project, I am responsible for supervising, coordinating, and ensuring the timely and quality construction of the solar farm. I play a critical role in maintaining the project's electrical standards, managing resources, and coordinating with various teams. My key responsibilities include: - Project Supervision - Quality Assurance - Project Scheduling and Coordination - Safety Regulation Compliance - Resource Management - Reporting and Documentation - Vendor and Subcontractor Management
As Construction Manager at Nextracker, my role is to provide onsite and remote support to client EPC's and sub-contractors to ensure the accurate and efficient installation of utility scale solar PV tracking systems. I work closely with all relevant stake holders during the construction phase, including internal and external Project Managers, Mechanical Supervisors, Quality Assurance Personnel and Installation Workers. This position allows me to build on my experience in the renewable energy industry and to use my passion for it in a highly productive way. My background as an Electrician and a rural upbringing match perfectly to give me the skills needed and I draw on them every day.
During 2020, I joined Biosar to assist with the completion of the Nevertire Solar Farm project and transition to Operations & Maintenance phase. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, including Network Service Providers, Asset Managers and Owner's Representatives, I was responsible for ensuring the compliant and efficient operation of the site. During this time I built many good relationships with these people who were key to achieving the common goal of maintaining a valuable asset. I've come away from this role having proven my ability to stay on top of all aspects of the daily requirements of operating a 132MW solar power plant, while also planning for the future. Through this, I've also gained invaluable skills and knowledge which will serve me well in future roles.
