Led both internal and external programs to create 3M sustainable competitive advantage enabling bold new future 3M businesses and business models. Data Privacy.
Built 3M Health Information Systems (HIS) first Data Science Lab (DSL); cultivating a new capability within the division in Machine Learning and Advanced Research. Technical Management. Established the DSL as a Research Lab within 3M’s Health Information Systems division. Hired 5 Data Scientist, 2 Software Engineers and a Data Engineer; tripling the size of the lab. Created a identity and mission for the Data Science Lab; fostered an environment of transpancy and trust. Managed researchers and drove collaboration across several time zones and locations. Increased customer engagement and awareness of 3M HIS Data Science capabilities by presenting at 2016 and 2017 HIS Customer Experience Summit (over 500+ customers attended) and organizing demonstrations given to customers. AWS Research Analytics Environment. Drove the definition and development of the first Analytics Research Environment in the AWS Cloud approved to store PHI data for 3M. Worked with security, privacy and legal as well as third party executives to confirm the environment met HIPAA regulation standards. Data Privacy. Drove and defined the PHI de-identification method within 3M HIS to support multiple initiatives and products; defining privacy as a technical and business strategy. Collaborated and engaged industry Data Privacy experts to lead the first Expert Determination de-identification project for 3M and HIS. De-Identified 450GB of data covering approx. 11 Million Members and approx. 400 Million claims across 6 different customers. Delivered the resulting data set as a key deliverable in a joint development partnership with Verily. International Pharmaceutical & Medical Device Privacy Consortium (IPMPC) board member. International Association of Privacy Professionals member. Member of the 3M HIS Policy Subcommittee reviewing all internal 3M HIS privacy and compliance policies, specifically Data Rights/Usage policy.
