Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme (UROP) Project Title: Towards Self-Learning Process Operations • Worked under the guidance of A/P Lakshminarayanan, S. (NUS Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering) • Researched on novel Multi-Input Multi-Output (MIMO) non-linear Fault Detection and Diagnosis algorithms that can be implemented with deep reinforcement learning to enable more efficient and autonomous plant operations. • Process Monitoring and Fault Diagnosis strategies based on methods such as Principal Components Analysis (PCA), MADCABS and PID Control were extensively studied • Studied Process Control heirarchies including Real Time Optimization (RTO) and Model Predictive Control (MPC) • Implemented and modelled a 4-Tank System using MATLAB – Simulink to implement the methods explored throughout the research.
