I’m a multi-passionate professional who prides myself on being practical and solutions-focused. I’m an experienced multi-award-winning lawyer and governance professional, award-winning speaker, MC, author, public speaking coach, and non-executive director. I’m also an online course creator and produce a podcast. In the legal world, I thrive being an in-house counsel having worked entirely as a corporate counsel for my career. I’ve held senior legal roles including as being the first General Counsel at UpGuard, the first General Counsel at Evergen, and Legal and Commercial at Tourism Tasmania. I’m currently the GC at Stacked Farm. As an in-house lawyer, I play a key role in identifying and mitigating risk and creating commercially focused solutions. I have a broad range of experience including commercial contracts, IP, privacy, tech and tech contracts, corporate governance, employment, procurement, and dispute resolution. My work in law and legal operations has been recognised with several awards including being named one of Australia’s Most Influential Lawyers in 2022 and 2023. I’m a Certified In-House Counsel (ICC) completing the certification with ACC in 2020. I have a passion for governance, having served on the boards of Business Events Tasmania and the Association of Corporate Counsel Australia. I continue to learn and build my skills in this space as a member of AICD (MAICD) and as a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia (FGIA). In 2020, I launched my personal brand as a speaker, MC, facilitator, and public speaking, presentation, and communication skills coach. Through my business, I speak regularly and host events locally, nationally, internationally, and virtually. I speak on how individuals can speak up, show up, and make an impact through their voice and words. I was awarded the 2022 International Speaker of the Year Award at the International Coaches Awards. In 2024, I published a book titled ‘A Way With Words’ through ReThink Press. In it’s first 24 hours, my book became an Amazon Best Seller in 5 categories. In 2023, I launched my online on-demand course Communicate for Impact. In addition, I am the Executive Director, Licensee and Curator of TEDxHobart. I am proud to produce an annual event that highlights the voices and ideas of those in nipaluna / Hobart and Tasmania as a whole. As Executive Director and Licensee, I am responsible for the implementation and delivery of TEDxHobart. I'm responsible for the planning, organising, and management of the event, the organisation, and the program itself. This role includes the management and oversight of the curation of the program, partnerships, logistics, event management, sustainability, diversity, and inclusion. I must ensure compliance with the TEDx rules. I lead the team of a volunteer committee and work with each to help implement and develop the event as it unfolds. My responsibilities included: - Management of team of volunteers; - Engaging partners and managing relationships with stakeholders; - Develop strategic partnerships to provide resource support and services for the event; - Develop marketing strategy and social media strategy; - Social media management and engagement; - Program curation (as co-curator) appropriately to ensure flow and engagement; - Speaking coaching (as one of the speaker coaches); - Providing support, coaching and assistance to speakers and performers; - Manage events and operational matters; - Event logistics; - Media engagement; - Liaison with venue; - Engagement of suppliers; - Being host and Co-MC at the TEDxHobart Conference; and - Bringing world-class ideas capable of shaping a better future for Hobart and the rest of the world!
