About

Thekla Altmann (she/they) is a poet, writer, editor, and translator from Communist East Germany. Thekla studied music and literature in Germany and the UK and holds a Master of Arts degree in Literary Translation from the University of Wales, Swansea. After spending many years translating and editing other people’s texts, she now focuses on her own. Thekla is a member of and an outspoken advocate for immigrants and LGBTQ+ communities, and feels that her own invisibility as both is a tool to be used liberally. She lives in rural Nova Scotia with her wife and kid, and works as a model for painters and in a library, though not at the same time.
