Against the backdrop of my professional experience in various industries, I'm a cross-disciplinary strategic operator and trusted board advisor: 🟠 𝐂𝐨-𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐄𝐎 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲: since 2016, we've built up an international legal tech company that offers its proprietary software in the fields of business law. Digitorney is based in the Netherlands and has subsidiaries in Amsterdam, Hong Kong and New York. 🟠 𝐋𝐚𝐰𝐲𝐞𝐫: since 2015, I have been advising executives and companies from various sectors (e.g. logistics, automation, automotive, pumps, cooling systems, robotics, circular economy) in the fields of business law – in particular corporate law, M&A, commercial law and insolvency law. 🟠 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐫: as a non-executive director and interim manager, I contribute my experience at the intersection of finance, law, restructurings, strategy and entrepreneurship. For instance, I worked as a managing director for an e-commerce company with approx. 150 employees and roughly EUR 200 million in annual sales. Moreover, I serve as member of supervisory boards. 🟠 𝐋𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐫 & 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐫: I share my professional knowledge of law and finance in lectures and seminars at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. I also hold management seminars, e.g. at the Board Academy, which I co-founded 17 years ago. Previously, I was a lecturer at EBS Business School and at the University of Cologne. I also held guest lectures at Renmin University Beijing, Hong Kong Baptist University and Hong Kong University. 🟠 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫 & 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐫: I have published more than 100 articles in journals on legal topics and have published/edited six books. In addition, I'm the publisher of the Board Journal since 2025. 🟠 𝐌𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐞𝐫: Outside of business, I produce electronic music under the artist name “Clemens van Lay”, combining creativity and entrepreneurship beyond the corporate world. Digitorney® is a multinational proprietary software company that provides a Legal-as-a-Service platform that provides tools for automating frequently updated legal documents across jurisdictions and languages. In addition, an AI chatbot answers legal questions based on practical experience of lawyers that has been incorporated into the tool. Moreover, a Legal Navigator contains proven solutions and checklists, structured according to typical corporate situations. Launched in the Netherlands in 2016, Digitorney® first established a network of more than 5,000 lawyers in almost 50 countries and developed B2B marketing solutions. Later on, the business model was extended to legal tech software sales. In mid-April 2025, Digitorney® launched its own LaaS platform. This uses a drag-and-drop interface intended to simplify the template design process.
