Freelancing for the The Times & Sunday Times newspapers John was regularly commissioned to take headshots and feature portraits of many famous people from the world of sport and celebrity including David Beckham, Andy Murray, Lance Armstrong. Victoria Pendleton, Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta Jones. And rather than snapping them from behind the bushes like the paparazzi John say's he'd always knock on the door and get invited in...
John has created images for an extensive list of journalistic, corporate and editorial clients. Alongside being a regular freelancer for The Times & Sunday Times newspapers, he has commissioned to photograph captains of industry including directors of Virgin Media (formerly NTL and Telewest), Onetel, Nestlé and the Advertising Standards Authority. He also accepts regular commissions from leading PR companies such as Splash Communications, EML, Hill & Knowton, Lexis, Pitch and Bell Pottinger.
John learnt his trade first as a darkroom technician, then as a photographer in the Royal Air Force, photographing everything from the latest high tech aircraft and equipment through to personnel headshots and VIP/Royal visits. His last post was as the Strike Command Public Relations Photographer producing publicity photographs of worldwide operations and exercise for both internal and external pr uses. John also photographed high speed air to air fast jets and helicopters, high tech equipment and personnel for press releases, magazines calendars and other promotional material. One of the highlights was to officially photograph HRH Queen Elizabeth II at St James’s Palace. And he must have done a pretty good job as he didn’t end up in the Tower of London...
