I am a British professional living in Berlin and a diverse bag of classical thinking. After obtaining a BSc. (with Honours) in Political Science, I moved to the Czech Republic, and then to Germany. Following my stint in Eastern Europe, I returned to the UK and commuted between England and Germany for a few years! I flirted a little with Hong Kong, before finally settling in the exciting, ever-changing city of Berlin as a British expat. I have an MA Education (Leadership & Management). I'm also a PhD Research Candidate - Doctor of Business Administration - Higher Education Management (DBA), at the University of Bath (UK)! As a dual British-German citizen, I'm a firm flag-bearer and strong advocate of my new homeland - Germany! I will be working as an English Language Teacher & Trainer / Sprachlehrerin für Englisch for the German Bundessprachenamt, otherwise known as the German Government Federal Office of Languages! A lot of my fellow colleagues in this sector are academic professionals like myself, and have worked in universities and schools of higher education, and or industry. And this being Germany, most have doctorates of their own, so I'm in good company!
The British Berliner is a lifestyle, travel, and expat blog about culture, history, travels around the world, Europe, and being British in Berlin! It focuses on a British girl from Manchester living in Berlin with her German husband and her half British – half German son, what she does in normal every day life and where she goes. Over the years Victoria has travelled far and wide. In 2020, she had planned to travel to Italy, Slovakia, Bosnia, Serbia, Hungary, Bulgaria, England and Norway! She did go to Norway but then the pandemic happened, so she decided to stay at home - in Germany & Austria! After the global pandemic In 2022, she took out her passport and started travelling again! She’s not a multi-millionaire. Neither is her husband! She didn’t win the lottery. She didn’t quit her job. She didn’t change her lifestyle. She didn’t throw her one and only child into boarding school. She didn’t re-locate to a warmer (cheaper) climate. She didn’t sell her stuff! You don’t have to do anything drastic if you want to afford a life of travel. You don’t have to choose between having it all and having nothing at all, and you definitely don’t have to quit your lifestyle! She’s living a life of both style and travel. If she can do it. My office was in Gifhorn - Lower Saxony, Germany, so I did a lot of corporate travel from Berlin 'cos I'm German now, albeit British-German!
