  • President & CEO ► P&L Management | Venture Partner Relationships | New Product Development at Rhomas Group
    1994 - 2000 · 6 yrs

Rhomas Group was a Midwest-based holding company that acquired and operated firms that manufacture folding cartons for end use by industrial customers. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ In 1994, I founded and led Rhomas Group to capitalize on the fragmentation of the folding industry to acquire and consolidate independent manufacturing plants. The depth of the work encompassed the examination of approximately 70 firms (financials on 55); due diligence (12); bank interface (20); and venture capital funding solicitations (60+). Subsequently, 2 packaging companies were acquired. Comprehensive business planning and associated responsibilities/initiatives included but was not limited to P&L Management and Budgeting; Asset, Liability & Income Analysis; Venture Partner Relationships; Needs and Operating Analysis; Capitalization Strategies; Crisis Management/Trouble Shooting; Vendor Relationships; Subcontractor Sourcing; Quality Control Systems; Strategic Partner Relationships; Partial Capitalization; Brand Identity Differentiation; Acquisitions; and Strategic development of Operations, Finance, and Sales. In the pursuit of aggressive business development goals, I re-engineered sales and distribution functions and trained/implemented sales teams while focusing on customer responsiveness for maximum effectiveness. With production, I focused on quality improvements and short-fun production cycles with fast turnarounds. Representative Achievements: ♦ Successfully led the acquisition and effective operation of 2 manufacturing facilities — resulting in combined sales in the tens of millions of dollars ♦ Negotiated multi-million dollar loan restructure and equity infusion from bank and current investors — garnering critical funds to promote business growth ♦ Presided over operating income of 16-21% — well above current industry average of 6-8% Connect with me for more information.

  • General Manager - Maui Cup Division ► Business Development | Strategic Planning | Training at Letica Corporation
    1990 - 1994 · 4 yrs

Letica Corporation is one of America’s largest packaging manufacturers, serving business-to-business, consumer and special project customers spanning markets from industrial and foodservice to entertainment and retail. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ As General Manager for the Maui Cup Division at Letica Corporation, I developed and delivered strategic business and operating plans to penetrate the multi-billion dollar paper cup market. I had accountability and was entrusted with a multi-million dollar corporate investment portfolio to advance Letica’s business development and revenue growth goals. In addition, I identified, negotiated, and sourced vendors and guided development plans for the design and construction of the plant. Human resource management was also an integral part of my role as General Manager, where I recruited, interviewed, and brought on board new plant and national sales managers. I also provided a plan to hire more than 50 plant personnel and recruited and hired a new sales force. The goal of the new sales force was to target and solicit all 20-30,000 U.S. cup buyers. Key Achievements: ♦ Utilized industry expertise and premier personal reputation to attract critical vendors — driving cost controls and facilitating Letica’s ability to purchase paper for operations at same price as the world’s largest cup manufacturers prior to production ♦ Directed national sales team in aggressive sales strategy beginning one year prior to plant opening and hired former MN governor to broker entry into corporate offices — rapidly escalating sales from zero to tens of millions of dollars within two years ♦ Provided key sales leadership — propelling Letica as the fastest growing paper cup manufacturing facility in U.S. history
