The role: Development of rolling practices and procedure for the manufacture of Can Body Stock (CBS), Foilstock, GEQ and hard alloys for domestic and international customers. Development of roll grinding practices & procedures. Development of quality standards and SOP's for the manufacturing, technical and engineering departments. Working across all departments and levels within the business to improve business performance.
Technical & engineering support for the recently installed and commissioned foil plant at Mouda (India). The role: Development of foil rolling practices and procedure for the manufacture of ultra-light gauge (ULG) foil for domestic and international customers. Development of roll grinding practices & procedures. Development of quality standards and SOP's for the manufacturing, technical and engineering departments. Working across all departments and levels within the business to improve business performance. Management of internal projects including new system integration and additional asset installation & commissioning.
Asset & Process Transfer (Ajanta Project), Novelis Foil & Technical Products. Project management of the removal, shipment, installation & commissioning of 2 rolling mills, separator, grinding machine, laminator, 2 slitters and peripheral equipment from Bridgnorth (UK) to Mouda (India) Upgrading of mechanical and electrical control systems for the transferred and existing assets (2 casters, HG slitter, cold rolling mill, 2 foil mills, roll grinding machine, separator, 2 slitters, laminator, 6 annealing furnaces) Transfer of process technology required in the production of foil products. Design scope of work for civil, mechanical, electrical and system suppliers. Vendor technical supply negotiations.
Responsibility for the process & production of the foil rolling and roll grinding departments (3 foil mills, 2 roll grinders, foil reception) Direct team of 39 persons. Continuous improvement projects - SMED, 5S, Kaizen, Lean manufacturing
Responsibility for the Process Measurement & Control systems. Ensuring system uptime and performance of gauge and flatness measurement devices. Ensuring gauge and flatness quality of foil rolled products on 5 foil mills by developing control strategies (AGC / AFC). Increased range of capability (gauge) and productivity performance of rolling mills during the restructuring of Bridgnorth plant.
Responsible for the transfer of assets & processes from Bridgnorth (UK) to Mouda (India). This included the detailed project planning & management for all aspects of the transfer and installation both in the UK and India, including civil construction, mechanical / electrical upgrades, installation & commissioning.
