I am a highly experienced Marine Environmental consultant with over thirty years in commercial consultancy; ten years in aquaculture; ten years p/t lecturer in marine biology. As Technical Director at CMACS & Niras Consulting I managed technical aspects of marine environmental and fisheries work, planning, coordinating & reporting seabed, water column and fish surveys & assessments for a wide variety of clients including many leading renewables and oil and gas developers. I now enjoy similar work as an independent contractor. Particular expertise includes: • Renewable energy - 20 years’ experience including wind farms, current turbines & wave energy projects; managed multiyear monitoring and assessment programmes for some of the UK’s largest wind farms. • Oil and gas - I managed an extensive series of surveys for BHPs Liverpool Bay developments in the early 1990’s. Since then I have been involved in numerous oil and gas related projects in the Irish Sea, North Sea, Mediterranean, W. Atlantic & Red Seas. • Client Representative (Environmental QC) for large scale offshore surveys (Irish Sea R3 wind farm Aug-Sep 2011; Exxon / EEPG Ltd (Canje, Lisa & Hammerhead projects Envtl Baseline Surveys Guyana, Sep 2018 & Apr-May 2019); TEP Ltd (West of Shetland EBS October 2018); NNB/EDF, (Hinkley Point Jul to Oct 2020. • Marine Stewardship Council Fishery Assessments including molluscs & finfish in UK, Isle of Man, Atlantic Canada & Gulf of St Lawrence, the sub-Antarctic including Crozet & Kerguelen; South Georgia, Barents Sea, Denmark, Netherlands, Sweden, the Faeroes, Greenland, Vietnam. • Biogenic reef survey & assessment; over 20 years experience with key publications. • Extensive experience of other sectors including • Cable (Telecoms and Power) & Pipelines, • Power Stations including Nuclear • Ports, Marinas, Harbours, Sea defences, • Marine Aggregates, • Sewage & other contaminants, • Fisheries & Aquaculture, • Marine Conservation / policy,
