MORE ABOUT ME I'm a fit, energetic 60+ actor. Typical roles run the range from surgeons, judges, morally strong characters to the suspicious neighbor who is too nice to be trusted...flawed and nervous women with oddly strong centers. Dream role: a bad-ass dragon-slayer (a gal can dream!) ...or any kind of female character of an older generation, who looks into our world with fierce determination, independently, a force in HER own right!
- Managing private coaching practice for actors in the U.S. & U.K. - Training young actors - middle school through college - who seek more in-depth and ongoing acting training. - Provide audition coaching for high school and college admissions.
- Artist-in-Residence for the SOTA Musical Theater, Vocals, and Media departments. - Provide individual and group instruction on acting, voice and dialects, character development, Shakespeare, Alexander Technique. - Teach acting for non-actors for the Vocal and Media departments, working towards expanding their range and appreciation for performance within music (Vocals) and film (Media, directing students). - Developing and directing project with Musical Theater, the Language Arts department, and the Leonardo da Vinci Society. Working with Therese Folco, students will translate and perform Poltrinieri’s Genius Libretto celebrating Da Vinci.
- Developed progressive theater school curriculum with a four-member team for grades 6 to 12. - The program built an acting and performance foundation to prepare students for college-level conservatories. - Created and taught acting curriculum for grades 6 to 12. Individual and group instruction on practitioner-based acting (such as Stanislavsky, Meisner, and Chekov), voice, movement, Shakespeare, and directing. - Conceived and directed school’s first intra-departmental theater production; brought together the Science, Fashion, Production Design, Media Design, and Theater departments to create a STEM-centered production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. - Led and directed participation in local, national and international arts programs: Children’s Fairyland Theater, Ohlone Theater Festival, English Speaking Union Shakespeare National Competition, Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2013 & 2015. - Prepared Senior classes for auditions for conservatory and college programs. - Liaised with Bay Area theater companies - Berkeley Rep, Aurora Theatre, A.C.T, SF Playhouse, The Magic Theatre - to bring students to professional productions and artists to the school.
English Department, Language Arts Teacher (8/07 – 6/10) - 11th grade (SOTA) and 9th grade (SF Academy) English classes. 20 to 40 student class size. - Created full-year curriculums utilizing a wide range of differentiated techniques and strategies. - Administered academic assessments to evaluate student progress against national standards. - Partnered with parents throughout the academic year with teacher-parent conferences and updates as needed or requested. Artist in Residence, Acting (8/05 – 6/10) - Taught SOTA acting curriculum for grades 9 to 12 focusing on scene work, monologues, Story Theatre projects, and Fitness for Actors. - Proposed and led fitness program to improve the stamina of SOTA young performers. - Created a year-long Introduction to Acting curriculum for SF Academy, grades 9 to 12. - Directed and led 10-15 student touring production to Bay Area elementary and middle schools, and at the De Young Museum’s Youth in Arts program.
