I'm currently a junior at the University of Maryland, College Park, pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Protection Engineering at the A. James Clark School of Engineering. As a Fire Protection Engineering major I am fascinated by the role in which human response and behavior correlates to the development of fire safety systems. I am looking to pursue a career in research and development or consulting to continue to promote life safety from fire. After working two summers as an electrical engineering intern at C.R. International, I gained technical experience and increased my understanding of circuit board manufacturing. While my career focus has shifted to Fire Protection Engineering, I gained invaluable knowledge of engineering production and processes from my internship experience.
In this three-week internship opportunity, I conducted experiments using an Articulated Wave Energy Conversion System (AWECS) to examine the effects of radiation damping on a section of waves. The experiments were tested using a wave tank with a plexiglass AWECS model and the data was compiled through MATLAB. The data was analyzed and organized into a 12-page Intern Report to be used by Murtech Researchers.
I completed an Ellis & Associates Lifeguard/CPR Certification, as well as obtaining a Pool Operator's License. As assistant manager of my pool, I managed pool chemicals, completed extra cleaning, oversaw guest safety and management, and was in charge of the other lifeguards on shift.
