I have experience both in industry, research and teaching positions: my work experience has revolved around programming, computer security, natural language processing, artificial intelligence and sw design and I have been involved in engineering education in a variety of topics (programming, computer architecture, SW design, embedded systems). Specialties: Programming, computer security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, SW/HW design and engineering and programming education.
I am a member of the administrative board and one of the founders of Smartifik Oy, a startup focusing on natural language processing solutions.
Since May 2008, I am a co-partner in running the fencing equipment webshop Oulun Miekkailutarvike that provides high-quality fencing equipment nationally.
I work as a research scientist at the Oulu University Secure Programming Group. Please see the OUSPG public website for information on our public research projects. Additionally, I am participating in a number of teaching tasks and teaching technology development projects. I teach assembly and C programming and direct embedded software project courses. I am actively advising a number of Bachelor and MSc (Tech.) theses.
I am a member of the Oulu University Secure Programming Group (OUSPG). See the OUSPG website for our public project information. During my time as an assistant researcher, I completed my diploma thesis and participated in a number of other research projects. Additionally, I was doing a variety of teaching and teaching technology -related tasks, teaching programming in assembly and C and a project course in software engineering.
I have been teaching fencing at the fencing club of Oulu since Spring 2003. I have attended several international courses, most prominent of which was a 3-week course held by maître Petru Kuki in Fontainebleau, France in 2008. Since Autumn 2013 I have had the honour to work with maestro Javier Menéndez, former olympian and the current head coach of our club, and with his excellent mentors in Pisa, maestros Antonio di Ciolo, Enrico di Ciolo, Simone Piccini and Alessandro Puccini. Additionally I owe a lot to the many world-class coaches whose seminars and courses I have attended over the years.
I was in charge of coaching development committee at the united national federation for fencing and modern pentathlon as a member of the administrative board.
