I work with Whanau who are participants in the Family Court Process and help them to navigate that system.
Contracted to a number of solicitors to provide cultural reports to offenders due to be sentenced in the district and high court. • To carry out interviews with offenders to assess their social history identifying reasons why they may be facing incarceration or community based penalties. • Establish rapport quickly with offenders and their whānau to gain maximum information in a limited amount of time. • Coordinate and conduct interviews with other professionals working with the offender • Draw out relevant information pertaining to their history and create causal connection to their offending through understanding and research. • Provide recommendations to encourage rehabilitation for the offender. • Write a comprehensive report where the audience are the judge, legal counsel and police.
