Host practicums and tutorial sessions for several marine biology and cardiovascular physiology courses at the University of Toronto. My role is to assist the lecturers in reinforcing course content, managing course websites, and grading assignments/tests. Using a multi-component drug discovery pipeline, we are working to develop a novel preservation solution for improved hypothermic storage of donor lungs before transplantation. Using in vitro models, we have identified specific pathways of cell injury that show promise for therapeutic intervention during cold storage. The ultimate goal of this project is to improve lung preservation outcomes so that more donor lungs are transplanted for patients in need.
To address the economic and healthcare burden of preterm birth, I worked alongside a team of skilled surgeons, cardiologists, and scientists to develop an artificial womb. An artificial womb aims to replicate in utero fetal development for premature births below the threshold of viability using current methods of neonatal intensive care.
Leveraged recent advancement in fetal cardiac MRI to assess the efficacy of different treatments in promoting fetal oxygen delivery and growth during pregnancy.
Worked closely with a team of scientists to advance our understanding of the fetal origins of adult and cardiovascular disease.
