About

I am a Special Educational Needs Specialist, I aspire to use my experience and ability of working with children with special needs to create a positive, nurturing and encouraging environment, to enable students with special needs, to learn and grow into confident, responsible and independent people of society. I have been instrumental in setting up departments and policies for the institutions I have been a part of. I have the experience of working with Children in the IB ; PYP MYP, ICSE , Cambridge Boards and a Special School. In these institutions I have helped teachers and parents with strategies to understand and address the academic and non academic needs of neuro diverse students, been successfully able to adapt curriculum and help for children on the Autism Spectrum, ADHD, Learning Disabilities, Cerebral Palsy and other learning and socio emotional challenges with their self confidence and feel like they truly belong in their setup with their peers and teachers.

    Duties and Responsibilities - Preparing and implementing a curriculum for the students which encompasses all academic and non-academic areas . - Preparing an implementing a Pre- Vocational curriculum for students with special needs to make them independent and assist their inclusion and participation at home and in their community. It was based on my Master’s Thesis – Development of a training module for special educators on individualized transition plan for students with intellectual disability. - Preparing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEP’s) for the students - Teaching academics; Language, Math and Environmental Studies and non academics; activities of daily living, brushing, wearing clothes, cooking, eating, social skills, activities enhancing fine and gross motor skills through innovative, interactive and creative methods. - Planning, organizing and executing excursions and outings for the children. - Training children for School assemblies and Sports day.
