Field internship at the Optical Support Maintenance Center (CMSO) of Algérie Télécom – Guelma, focused on the maintenance and troubleshooting of optical fiber communication networks. During this experience, I gained hands-on exposure to: OTDR fault detection and localization (fiber cuts, bends, and signal loss) Fusion splicing techniques ensuring minimal insertion loss Optical power measurement to verify signal quality across the network FTTH (Fiber to the Home) network architecture and deployment TIA-598 color coding standards for fiber identification and organization Basic KPI monitoring and preventive maintenance operations This internship allowed me to connect theoretical knowledge in optics with real-world telecommunications systems and understand how large-scale fiber networks are monitored and maintained to ensure continuous service quality.
Observational internship completed in an ophthalmology clinic, providing an introduction to the field of eye care and clinical ophthalmic practice. This experience allowed me to gain insight into patient care pathways, from reception and consultation to specialized ophthalmic examinations. I also observed the use of specialized ophthalmic equipment and the overall organization of a medical practice dedicated to visual health. Key skills developed: Understanding of patient care workflow in ophthalmology Observation of specialized eye examinations Introduction to visual health assessment procedures Familiarity with ophthalmic medical equipment Attention to detail, discipline, and professional conduct in a healthcare environment
Completed a field internship at SONATRACH RA1K complex, one of the largest industrial energy sites in Algeria. The internship provided hands-on exposure to industrial instrumentation and process control systems within a complex operational environment. Gained practical understanding of measurement chains, including sensors, transmitters (4–20 mA signal conversion), and analyzers used for real-time monitoring of physical and chemical variables such as pressure, temperature, flow, and level. Studied the functioning of PID control loops and the interaction between measurement, transmission, and control systems to ensure process stability, safety, and efficiency. Developed insight into industrial automation systems and the importance of system integration in maintaining continuous and reliable production.
Completed a field internship in the Ophthalmology Department, focusing on the clinical application of optical instrumentation in eye examination and vision assessment. During this experience, I: Observed the use of key ophthalmic diagnostic devices such as slit lamp, ophthalmoscope, tonometer, and autorefractor Applied fundamental optical principles including refraction, focal length, and optical aberrations in a clinical context Gained insight into patient examination workflow and diagnosis process Understood the role of precision optical measurements in supporting medical decisions Learned the importance of calibration, maintenance, and hygiene of optical instruments to ensure accuracy and patient safety
Participated in an industrial visit at CATEL focusing on fiber optic manufacturing processes. Gained insight into the full production chain, including optical glass preform processing, fiber drawing at high temperature, and protective coating techniques. Strengthened understanding of applied optics in real industrial environments and high-speed communication systems.
