I always knew I would work on health care and support my community. Working in health care has given me the opportunity to find the passion of teaching others in my field. Teaching other medical assistants how to improve patient care experiences, improved work processes, point of care testing, and data scrubbing for health maintenance has been so exciting. I have learned so much about myself. Helping others to improve lives of patients is so rewarding.
I was promoted to clinical supervisor with the same company at the same location! Now not only am I a CMA utilizing those skills to better patient experience and train staff but also expanding my management skills. I work side by side with my current office manager. I manage scheduling for a large department, billing issues for patients, staff training, process implementation, and am part of many great committees centered around patient care and experience. I have partnered with a provider to complete a project for those patients who have comorbidities related to obesity. Treating the whole patient and providing them resources and guidance to achieve their health goals and better themselves is so important. The project has been such a great learning experience. Not only have I learned so much but we have helped so many patients. Collaboration with different departments and outside organizations has been a great collaborative experience. What a fantastic opportunity.
I have been a Medical Assistant at Mercy Health since January 2015. I was promoted as Lead MA in 2018. I am very active in my position with aspects including but not limited to Inventory Management, VFC or Vaccines for Children, The hiring team, process implementation, positivity, team oriented communication, and I am also a Preceptor so I train new employees as well. I am also very familiar with EMR systems, most recently Epic. I work with a Primary Care doctor who is also a regional director so I am very knowledgeable on patient care from both patient and provider aspects which helps to ensure communication between both the patient and the provider that are understood by both.
I worked as a house keeper at CVG for the Kenton County Airport Board for two years while going to school to be a Medical Assistant. I am very knowledgeable in handling cleaning chemicals and updating MSDS sheets for all chemicals used. I was also involved in customer service and improved my communication skills tremendously as I was working with a very diverse group of employees and customers from around the world.
I worked at Dayton power and Light doing house keeping for a year. The work experience was great in so many ways. I learned a lot about OSHA as most of the workers are Union and have to continuously be familiar with the policies involved. R
I started as a State testing Nursing assistant at Ohio Valley Manor in 2008 fresh out of high school. I am still very up to date on Hippa, elder care, STNA job duties and health care records. This was a wonderful job right from the start. Caring for the elderly means also caring and supporting their family through the changes of health their loved ones are going though. Comfort, dignity, empathy and relativity are so important in this role.
