Knowing that for me immersion in other nations cultures by knowing natives from the lands (Italy, France, the Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom, and most recently Ireland where my husband and I were enraptured by the Guinness Jazz Festival in Cork and Kinsale where my good friend Lila Ammons performed in Reardon's Bar, the Metropol Hotel, Triskel Arts Centre, and the Trident Bar and Hotel with Billy Crosbie Productions) eating local cuisines, drinking from the local sources and BEING congruent for extended periods makes expanded understanding mastery & shared experience possible.
i am a fierce conduit connecting ARTists globally with other ARTists buyers appreciators and a whole host of other ways of being with ART i do my own ART poetry prose photography compose music riffs and suggest other collaborations to others that i respect or see as doing GOOD works for Mother Earth and/or women & girls especially! giving VOICE and Honoring are my huge predominant values/ethics/leadership mission so its all connected in my world!
My elderly father passed away at age 97 on 1 September, 2018 due to long-term dementia. As an honorably discharged Veteran of World War II having served 1942-1945 in Italy and North Africa with the Army Air Corps charged with plane maintenance and repair dad was entitled to full military honors. I contacted officials at the Department of Defense/Veterans of Foreign Wars and arranged a 3 rifle salute near the Mausoleum at Lakewood Cemetery where both parents are now inurned. One of the soldiers played Taps at the conclusion of the gun volley salute. At the end of the service another officer handed an elaborately folded American Flag to me, daughter and care-giver of my father from our President and a Grateful Nation. The military piece was free of charge and was very moving to all who observed it. As part of the funeral good-bye I also had Vocalist Brian A. Kinney [email protected] sing "Amazing Grace" and "It's a Wonderful World." In homage to dad's service in Italy and in our mutual love of "all things Italian" I engaged Violinist Theresa Kerry Elliott http://Lyra/Baroque/Orchestra to perform a Vivaldi Concerto from his Four Seasons (Winter movement) and other processionals and recessionals as attendees entered and exited the mosaic filled Chapel. I conducted a video interview with French Chanteuse Anne David from the Burgundy Region on Monday, March 7, 2016 at her performance singing and playing a Spanish guitar. The venue was an intimate performing space "Theatre du Nord Quest" where she entertained with original songs about the life and work of acclaimed Poet, Marie Noel. We hope to invite Ms. David to Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota, USA to perform her artistry in our culturally diverse landscape. I heard Anne perform as part of a Burgundy Summer Arts Forum in June/July 2012 run by Marianne Blivet and was very taken with her work. Contact me to set dates in your club or city. Photographer creating tableaux Honoring & Preserving Transformative Life Events (i.e. weddings, life celebrations, funerals, births, retirements, legal proceedings, home-cooking, medical visits, home building processes or demolition-destruction, natural phenomena, music performances, visits to loved ones of all ages, ART making,) all happenings or events "moments" of meaning to clients. I LOVE to layer meaning like collage and I save many pieces, scraps, snippets, oral recordings & reminiscences, merging media of ALL kinds. Weaving together cultural threads to make sense. SEE it BE it. Healing is a dominant theme or purpose of all arrays of my ART/work. Rituals of sharing TEA to honor our bodies, minds, souls, spirits and to unburden our truth with others looms large now that the light is waning and the temperatures dip in my MidWest USA corner of Mother Earth.
This is an emerging business for me! I hosted my first TEA on Sunday, October 26th in Bloomington, MN, USA and had fifteen guests! Entertainment was provided by Dorothy Doring who sang and played guitar. The menu was "Pot Luck" and included 5 teas, individual teapots, mix and match linen napkins, placemats and tablecloths, scones, lemon curd and several fruit preserves, creme freche, veggie platter with dips, egg salad and several other varietal crustless tea sandwiches, cheesecake, and fresh fruit. Rick utilized an Apple iPad and iPhone in February 2014 and cousin Larry Holm utilized a Sony hand held camcorder to gather sound and imagery of Holm elders Max and Lillian and Donna who reminisced for 2 hours about streetcar transit and other time capsules in their youth 1940s to present day attending the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis USA after completing Naval Service in the Pacific in World War 2 and about childhood memories in Avoca and Dundee Minnesota. Gathering instigated by LuAnne Holm-Zilka with primary interviewer Sylvia Secrest.
