My name is Syed Waqas Ahmed and I have been associated with Insurance & Takaful industry for 9 years now. I have worked in three different companies in different departments to develop my organizational and operational skills. I am currently working in TPL LIFE INSURANCE LIMITED (WINDOW TAKAFUL OPERATIONS) as Head of Takaful - Group Family/Health Takaful Operations also acting as a bridge between individual & corporate sales personnel, accounts & finance, IT, actuarial services department, claims department & corporate agency. Along with this I am also supervising conventional operations. I have experience related to all operational activities. In PAK-QATAR FAMILY TAKAFUL LIMITED, I was leading a team in Group Health Operations Department where we used to deal with legal, financial & Operational activities of 500+ corporate companies in Pakistan. In KASB MODARABA, I had an opportunity to launch Pakistan’s first NBFI (Non-Banking Financial Institutions) which was specially designed with sharia compliant takaful products. It aimed to provide “One window Financial Risk Mitigation Solution” with leading Takaful Operators in Pakistan (PAK QATAR FAMILY & GENRAL TAKAFUL, EFU HEMAYAH TAKAFUL, JUBILEE FAMILY & GENERAL TAKAFUL). * Responsibilities (Group Health & Group Life Operations (Conventional & Takaful) / Group Underwriting / Corporate Customer Services / Mass Retail / Banca / Credit Life Operations / Special Projects for Group Life & Group Health) Managing all operational activity related to Group Life Operations, Group Underwriting, Client Services (Group & Individual), Banca / Credit Life Operations / Special Projects for Group Life & Group Health Insurance Policies. Responsible for Group Family Takaful and Group Health Takaful technical and Operations area (Underwriting, Client Servicing, Group Family Takaful Claims, In-House system development for group family takaful and group life insurance. Organizing, Structuring and Leading Group Family Takaful and Group Life Operations Department. Supervising and Managing total portfolio of 67 million in Group Life business for both Takaful/Conventional having at least 144,000 number of insured lives. Working with Centegy Technologies for Group Operations Software (GLAS) development and implementations. Looking after all the different operational aspects of Micro Health, Mass Retail & Banca Project and Operational process with Head of Actuarial & Group Operations. Developing and training corporate sales force to support the group business project. Designing group marketing material for client awareness. Coordinating underwriting activities and policy scheduling for clients with underwriting department. Client services to prospect and existing client - for better service delivery. Visit clients along with corporate sales force for new business acquisition with timely and complete reporting to Head of Actuarial & Group Operations. Pursuing and accomplishing renewals. Routine supervision and support in back office in terms of claims and supervising maintenance of claims records.

Working along with the Head of Takaful on Pre and Post launch activities, development, promotion of Bancatakaful Products and implementation of comprehensive business plans to achieve financial goals and growth. Alternate delivery channels development & execution Bancatakaful. One window Financial Risk Mitigation solution. Day to day operations which include client servicing, policy renewals, follow-up with all leading Takaful Operators. Need based Product development relate to Individual Life Takaful, Group LifeTakaful, Group Health Takaful & General Takaful Products. Maintain strong coordination with cross functions and with all Leading Takaful Operators in Pakistan. Product Development, Research & Execution. Coordinating & arranging presentations & training workshops for clients. Managed all the operational activity, communications internally & externally, MIS, commission reports, TAT, customer facilitation internally and externally both of Alternate Distribution Channels of life & non-life with leading Takaful Operators.
* Responsibilities (Operations Dept- Group Health Underwriting, Group Life, Group Agency, Group Commission & Group Policy Administration) Working on CPI-Financial Index Award winning software PENTA TAKAFUL. Responsible for dealing with the insurance brokers, clients for day-to-day activity of Group Health Operations department, Schemes administration, its quality, execution, process, improvement and adherence to best practices. Review and evaluate insurance/Takaful applications and related documents to properly evaluate new business and classification of risk in accordance with company’s standards and Re-Takaful guidelines. Serving 400+ corporate clients along with the team of 5 members. Developed a team of all-rounder’s each of which can take place of anyone without any noticeable drop in service standards. Group Health maintenance and development; this requires identification and resolution of system errors and correspondence with IT & Systems as well as system vendor (ATEINS) for development and implementation of new system modules. Maintaining long term relationship with the Corporate Customers. Preparation of Confirmation Letter & Initial Bill. Preparation of Participant Membership Documents (PMD) and Participant Specific Schedule (PSS). Maintenance of complete data of Employees. Working on Policy Renewals and reconciliations. Acting as a bridge between sales personnel, finance, IT and actuarial services department. Underwriting of Group Health policies. Policy setup for new business in Penta Takaful. Reconcile monthly billing and commission with Accounts & Finance Department. Record and Maintenance of the Paid and outstanding Bills. Billing and resolution of issues related to billing. Final settlement of Group Commission.
Receiving policy confirmations. Making Participant’s Membership Documents - PMD (Contract Papers). Handling fluctuations in client’s data. Recording all the fluctuations in the existing participant policies. Billing and resolution of issues related to billing. Renewals of existing clients. Writing letters & dispatching medical cards to clients.
* Responsibilities (Claims Dept - IPD, OPD, Reimbursement & Medical Services Department) Working on ERP Based Record Maintain System. Maintenance of Records (Claims feeding, Cheque feeding) Review hospital claims to ensure claims amounts and payable after deductions are accurate. Making Monthly Payment Details group wise. Checking Medical Claims (IPD & OPD) and forward it to Audit and Accounts Departments. Maintenance of filling system and their Records. Preparation of letters for the clients regarding cheque, payments and other requirements. Maintenance of complete data of Employees. Report of Claims Cheque. Correspondence with our Panel Hospitals, directly to the Client for settlement of their Claims. Record and Maintenance of the Paid and outstanding Medical Claims. Preparation of Authority letter Approval for the admitted employees in Panel Hospital. Preparation of hospitalization card for all groups.
