About

Josh Switkes has been developing vehicle control, automation and safety systems since 2001. Inventor on more than 40 patents across powertrain, vehicle control, vehicle to vehicle communication, and automation, with experience at three of the largest car OEMs. After his work at Stanford University on a variety of vehicle control systems, including guaranteeing safety for lanekeeping assistance and steering wheel haptic feedback, Josh developed production control systems for Volkswagen, Audi, and Tula Technology. Most recently he founded Peloton Technology, where he brough together a world class team of engineers, investors and advisors to bring groundbreaking safety and efficiency to trucking through the application of modern sensing, control and communications in the form of truck Platooning.

Peloton is addressing the $650B trucking industry using cutting edge connected vehicle engineering and data analytics to help fleets make money by improving safety and cutting fuel costs. Peloton links pairs of heavy trucks using vehicle to vehicle communication to form close formation platoons, controlling braking and acceleration while the driver steers. Our system connects forward collision avoidance technology on both trucks, mitigating the most common truck accidents. The reduction in aerodynamic drag in these platoons provides unprecedented fuel economy savings for both the trailing and the leading truck.
