I am a second-year medical student at Stony Brook University Renaissance School of Medicine, holding a Master of Public Health from SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. My background spans orthopedic research, public health, and health policy, with a focus on improving patient outcomes, advancing surgical innovation, and addressing healthcare access and equity. Grounded in my Indian cultural heritage and commitment to service, I strive to connect clinical practice with evidence-based public health strategies. My goal is to ensure medical innovation delivers meaningful, equitable improvements in the lives of the communities it serves.
Swaneet Jha is a graduate of Stony Brook University. He works with Dr. Carl Imhauser in the Biomechanics Department, focusing on developing and validating a TKA-specific patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) to improve patient satisfaction following Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA). He is also involved in a study using a novel knee tester to understand the correlation between objective knee laxity and patient perceptions of instability. Swaneet collaborates closely with Dr. Brian Chalmers, who leads the clinical component of this research.
- Compose and submit case study reports for potential publication in the Visual Journal of Emergency Medicine - Execute retrospective data collection and chart reviews via the Electronic Medical Record system - Assist research faculty with study design and IRB documentation - Complete clinical research and study specific training
- Serve as liaison between research staff and healthcare teams, successfully recruiting patients for over 10 clinical research studies - Screen hundreds of patients and enroll those eligible according to strict inclusion and exclusion criteria - Obtain informed consents and conduct study-specific testing, ensuring compliance with ethical standards - Administered the Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) device on patients experiencing back or abdominal pain to investigate its efficacy as an alternative to analgesic treatment in emergent situations - Shadow physicians and residents while they deliver patient care
- Provide academic support to Division 1 student-athletes on a wide range of premedical courses at Stony Brook - Tutor for the following courses: BIO 201, 202, 203, 204, 205, 361 // CHE 131, 132, 152 - Provide one on one mentorship on goal setting, study skills, and career readiness
- REU researcher in the Department of Technology and Society under mentorship of Dr. Thomas Woodson - Perform data analytics research on the impact of nanotechnology on healthcare. - Accepted to the Nanotechnology for Health, Energy, and the Environment REU as one of 9 students amongst a competitive pool of nation-wide applicants.
