I have 20 years experience from the pharmaceutical industri (AstraZeneca) where I have held a number of positions including Team Leader; Section Leader; Associate Director and Project Leader. During 3 years (2009-2011) I worked full time with improvement work and led both local project and co-led large global improvement projects where we implemented new processes as well as improved existing. I have experience in leading personnel including team leaders and have handled budget work. I am a focused and goal-oriented project leader and in addition to my interest in science I am very enthusiastic in improving work-processes and developing personel.
I managed one of the medicinal chemistry sections (between 10 to 25 reports and 3 team leaders) and was a member of the medicinal chemistry management team. Responsibilities included recruitment of new synthetic chemists, Education and development of personell, Contract research lab contact (yearly budget approx 1.5 US$) and developing pre-project chemistry (hit to lead). I was a member in several global, cross functional teams (improvements of medicinal chemistry, information flow, CRO efficiency etc.) Selected achievements include: • As chemistry project leader for analgesia and neurology projects, successfully developed medicinal chemistry strategies and managed chemistry teams that delivered compounds into clinical trials. • Delivered a number of project from Hit Identification into Lead Identification. • Build up of a research scale lab in Södertälje (from mg to hundreds of gram of Candidate Drugs) • Successfully led a cross functional group that developed and deployed a new process to manage Design-Make-Test-Analyze cycles. The process was implemented within 12 months from project initiation and enabled project teams to shorten the DMTA cycle time with approx. 30%. • I coached and supervised more than 10 improvement project (Lean sigma Black Belt and Green Belt projects) that was implemented in the research organisation. • I received Black belt certification in 2010.
Worked as a Team Leader for 4 years (8 reports) and as a Project Leader for 4 years (approx 35 project members). Achievements: Delivered candidate drugs into the clinic. A number of patent applications (compound and process patents) were granted.
Research in Organic Chemistry. Associated with Prof Björn Åkermark Resulted in scientific papers in organometallic chemistry. Methodology and mechanistic investigations.
