My work has focused on innovation research in human-machine interaction. Pursued areas include adaptive systems, augmented cognition, cognitive workload assessment, cognitive state detection, performance assessment, multimodal human-computer interfaces, decision-support systems, physiological and affective computing. Specialties: Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI), Human-Systems Integration (HSI), Interface Design, UCD, Usability, User Experience (UX), Cognitive Psychology/Engineering.
Leading and growing a research group that is striving to integrate human and machine intelligence using a cognitive science approach. Our goal is to develop Hybrid Intelligent Systems, as well as methods for Human-AI Interaction and Dynamic Task Allocation in which humans and machine agents augment each other to effectively combine the best of both worlds.
Managed projects concerning user state detection and adaptive systems. Developed adaptive systems that are aware of the state of their user(s) and the environment to improve human-machine interaction and cooperation. My focus is on developing concepts for adaptation management, i.e. when, what, and how technology should adapt in response to user or environmental states.

Hola México offers attractive wholesale conditions for resellers, restaurants, and the food industry. We also cater to consumers through our online shop at www.holamexico.de.
Managed projects and research teams for R&D and consulting efforts in Human-Computer Interaction and Human-Systems Integration. Lead SBIR efforts sponsored by DARPA, the Department of Transportation, and the Office of Naval Research, and served as Principal Investigator of an Air Force-sponsored SBIR Phase I effort. Lead the technical development of an IARPA-sponsored BAA effort that investigated the application of physiological sensor technology to image analysis settings. Served as Project Manager of numerous usability evaluation and user-centered design efforts for Fortune 500 clients. Authored and co-authored more than 25 research publications on cognitive state detection via physiological sensors, multimodal systems design, auto-adaptive frameworks for training and operational environments. Co-invented three patent-pending approaches related to human-systems interaction in military environments.
Worked with Dr. Craig S. Miller on a grant from NASA Ames Research Center to improve and adjust MESA, a computational model of Web navigation. Assessed methods to create navigation structures and concept hierarchies, prepared and conducted various studies to observe how users make navigation decisions.
Thesis research in Otto's International Marketing Department.
