Experienced Researcher with a PharmD and a PhD degree and demonstrated history of working in higher education with strong pharmacology knowledge and publication record. ACTIVITIES INCLUDED CLINICAL TRIAL ADMINISTRATION: The Sylvester pharmacy administers all clinical trials held at the University of Miami. The Research Pharmacy at Sylvester is responsible for ordering, storing, preparing and distributing trial medications, safeguarding records and auditable material, ensuring compliance to applicable policies and guidelines, and advise PIs. HOSPITAL PHARMACY ADMINISTRATION: Processing inpatient and outpatient orders; management of controlled substances, formulary inclusions and exclusions, managing Drug Assistance Programs, managing automatic drug dispensers (Pyxis), and daily narcotic audit, among other responsibilities. CLINICAL PHARMACY: Daily rounds with the medical team; check and discuss appropriateness of patient treatment protocols, counsel patients on effects, side effects and correct use of medications, respond to questions and concerns of patients and their families. NON-STERILE COMPOUNDING: Preparation of special formulations to order specifications, such as oral solutions and topical creams. STERILE COMPOUNDING: On demand preparation of sterile intravenous medications, hydration solutions and chemotherapy infusions, among others. RETAIL: Day-to-day activities within retail which included counseling patients, calling providers, transferring prescriptions from and to the pharmacy, submitting claims, among others.

TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH in Reproductive Endocrinology. Investigating the effect of germline mutations as the underlying source of abnormal puberty or fertility in patients carrying the mutations. These studies were done in collaboration with national and international investigators and resulted in several original articles published in well-recognized medical journals. NIH-K AWARD SCHOLAR: Harvard University Chapter of the 'Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women's Health (BIRCWH): Hormones and Genes: from Bench to Bedside’. Interdisciplinary group included basic and clinical investigators from the Brigham & Women's Hospital and the Massachusetts General Hospital. RESEARCH GRANTS: I was awarded several research grants, including the NIH, the Harvard Medical School, and a private Boston foundation. MENTOR ACTIVITIES: I mentored undergraduate and graduate students that worked on my grant-funded projects. MY RESEARCH was on the genetic basis of reproductive disorders. I performed functional studies of genetic mutations identified in patients with pubertal or infertility disorders by generating the mutations in vitro by site-directed mutagenesis and transfecting the mutant DNA into cell lines to study how the mutation affected the function of the original protein.
