About

I build full-stack applications and write about what I learn. For me, those are the same work. My engineering background spans TypeScript, Node.js, React, Next.js, and AWS serverless — production experience across AI-powered platforms, APIs, and internal tooling. I'm now deepening that foundation in AI/ML: enrolled in a postgraduate specialization in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at PUC Minas, and working on applied AI projects that I'll build and write about publicly. Before transitioning to tech, I spent 20+ years as a journalist, editor, and media director — leading teams, managing newsrooms under deadline pressure, and communicating complex information to large audiences. That background didn't disappear when I became an engineer. It's why I can write an article that reaches 14,000 readers, deliver an AI Fundamentals curriculum for non-technical learners, and explain a serverless architecture to a non-technical stakeholder without losing the detail engineers need. What I do in the community: AWS Community Builder since 2023 — articles, talks, and mentoring across EMEA, APAC, and LATAM. I founded the AWS Women's User Group Sweden, co-organize AWS Community Day Baltic, and have led developer communities across New Zealand, Sweden, and Brazil for 4+ years. I focus on making cloud and AI accessible to people who don't yet see themselves as belonging in tech: career changers, women, immigrants, and underrepresented groups. If you're building AI products and need someone who can engineer and explain — 💻 suzanamelo.com · Writing about Cloud, AWS, and AI for developers and career changers.
