Basel, Basel, Switzerland
After decades as a sports and travel writer, I now channel my experiences as a reporter and expat into helping newcomers get to know my part of the world. The Expat's Guide to Southern Alsace, which started as an ebook, offers weekly updates for travel and entertainment adventures in French villages. We also partner with Basel relocation companies to help expats looking to settle on either side of the border.
With vast experience as a reporter and a seasoned expat, I co-founded The Expat's Guide to Southern Alsace in 2013. In addition to being an online source for travel adventures in French villages near the Swiss border, we also partner with Basel relocation companies to help expats find homes and ease into their new culture.
The Expat's Guide to Southern Alsace provides readers with dining, shopping and recreation options in towns along the southern edge of Alsace, France, plus in-depth information on French cheeses, Alsatian wines and the quality of food in French groceries, markets, and farms. Written by American expats Susie Woodhams and Amanda Vo Park, this ebook (available on Amazon.com) serves as a great tool for tourists, as well as expats based in or near Basel, Switzerland and Germany's Black Forest area. The book includes a history of the region's southern edge, maps, and practical French phrases and vocabulary with pronunciations for anglophones. The authors update readers through the Facebook Page The Expats Guide to Southern Alsace http://ow.ly/Ecuzp.
Woodhams' travel articles (generally 1200-1500 words) for The Globe's Sunday Travel Section include features on Basel, Switzerland; the Alsace region of France; a Black Forest (Germany) hike; a World War I battlefield hike in the Vosges Mountains; Amsterdam/Delft with kids; first-person, novice surfing experience in Florida; Galveston, Texas, post-Hurricane Ike; Lourdes, France; the "Brotherhood of Asparagus" in Village-Neuf, France.
