I am passionate about the intersection of environment, justice and race. I am always looking for avenues to unlearn and educate myself to support Indigenous and racialized communities. I am particularly interested in analyzing race-based data and shedding light on lived experiences of systemic inequalities perpetuated by unjustified environmental policies in Canada. I would love to connect with like-minded professionals who share a strong passion in REDI (reconciliation, equity, diversity and inclusion), environmental justice and intersectional environmentalism!
• Established the department’s first Youth Council (YC) within five months by selecting and managing a contractor, leading a recruitment process, and coordinating communication materials • Developed briefing materials and workplans for senior management and the Minister’s office • Provided support to 12 youth leaders by fostering a safe environment for professional development • Managed a departmental working group and built connections with the interdepartmental YC network • Evaluated collection measures on disaggregated data in the Gender-based Analysis Plus (GBA+) annexes of budget proposals to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement
• Conducted research and produced briefs to support the development of policy agendas and national strategies • Provided strategic and intersectional lenses on cross-cutting policy files for integrated policy advice • Built relationships with strategic policy staff from other governmental departments and agencies for interdepartmental policy integration • Supported departmental medium-term planning and transition by performing platform analyses, tracking mandate letter commitments and reviewing transition documents
• Analyzed administrative data from government clean technology programs to track federal investments and impacts through data mining and visualizations • Formulated guidance for government clean technology programs to collect and report on administrative data for consistency and comparability across programs • Advanced equity, diversity and inclusion in clean technology programs by collecting and disseminating best practices across federal departments
• Examined and monitored electricity market trends across jurisdictions and produced a database for policy analysis • Applied inclusive intersectional and gender equity lens to program development by advancing Gender-based Analysis Plus (GBA+) in operations • Utilized project management tools, including gantt charts, a statement of work and a project charter for national assessments on clean growth • Developed informational presentations, placemats and heat maps for effective communication to executives on programs and policies • Celebrated and advocated for diversity as an executive member of the Visible Minority Advisory Council
• Designed and executed the Global Solutions Conference for 100+ participants to bring awareness of holistic sustainable change through design thinking, art communication and policy development workshops • Created partnerships with University of Waterloo clubs, government officials and leaders from local organizations engaged in community development to advocate for the global goals • Contributed to the formulation and organizational branding of the SDG Impact Alliance
