Graduated in Law and Political Sciences, I am passionate about International Relations and the EU. I am a dedicated professional specialized on EU Law, based in Belgium since 2016. Previous placements at the European Commission, and EUROCONTROL, have enabled me to specialized on environmental law and policy matters. During my time at CEFIC, I did also gain an extensive experience on EU government and regulatory affairs with an impact on chemicals and the environment. My previous position at Solvay, allowed to earn a business acumen when launching advocacy strategies on upcoming key regulatory challenges for the chemical sector. With my new role at Ecolab, I am taking on a new challenge as part of the EU regulatory affairs team, where I will handle key challenging aspects of EU Chemicals Legislation, including REACH Revision.
As Legal Counsellor most of my responsibilities are: -Coordinating a network of experts to actively monitor EU environmental law and policy relevant to the Chemical industry; -Following up on recent and ongoing EU developments on access to environmental information and access to justice by NGOs on environmental matters; -Providing guidance and assistance on requests for access to documents and the protection of Confidential Business Information (CBI); -Monitoring EU Court Cases on environmental legislation with an impact on the Chemical Industry (e.g. Glyphosate, Access to environmental information under the Aarhus Convention or Water Framework Directive ); -Anticipating potential impacts and risks for the Chemical Industry in light of coming Commission initiatives (e.g. EU Collective Redress, or Transparency of scientific studies). As Manager of the European Polymer Dispersion and Latex Association (EPDLA), my duties are: -Coordinatinating the functioning of the Sector Group as well as that from its seven Task Forces; -Advocating and representing the interests of the members to ensure their adequate representation; -Assisting the members in a number of specific deliverables, i.e. organization of conference calls and meetings, collection of feedback to participate to public consultations or call for evidences, drafting of position papers, or the management of the group’s budget; -Monitoring and reporting on EU regulatory developments, including the ongoing debate on the EU legal definition of Microplastics and the Biocides Regulation.
As Environmental Policy Assistant, my tasks were: -Providing support to the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) Project lead; -Identifying recent developments on the UNFCCC; -Monitoring and briefing on policy developments on aviation and the environment; -Following up and reporting on environmental policy developments at the European and International Level (e.g. Energy Efficiency Directive, RED, Noise Directive and ET ETS post-2020); -Drafting of legal 'Data Sharing Agreements' as well as of 'Non Disclosure Agreements'.
As part of the European Commission Bluebook Traineeship, I worked as Case Handler for the Spanish Portfolio, including the following tasks: -Handling Infringement Procedures on EU environmental legislation (CHAP, EU Pilot and NIFs); -Examining the dossiers of alleged infringement cases and reviewing compliance with EU environmental legislation; -Handling the correspondence with complainants as part of the infringement procedures; -Participating and providing support to the Cohesion Policy, European Semester and Environmental Implementation Review policy areas.
