DevOps / SRE Engineer | Observability & Cost Optimization | Reduced New Relic Ingestion by 30TB/month | AWS, Kubernetes, New Relic

Andhra Pradesh, India

About

Most of what keeps systems healthy is invisible: good observability, clean signals, and automation that just works. That is the space enjoyed most as a DevOps / SRE Engineer focused on telemetry, reliability, and cost optimization. Currently part of the Infrastructure Platform team at Highspot, working on observability for large-scale services and helping product teams ship with confidence. Recently reduced New Relic ingestion by 30 TB by eliminating unused metrics, pruning low-value logs, and tuning Kubernetes scrape intervals, further lowering observability costs while preserving critical visibility. The goal: pay less for telemetry while still seeing exactly what matters during incidents. On the operations side, fine-tuned Kubernetes alerts for observability-owned pods to drastically reduce false alarms and on-call noise, so engineers only get paged for things that actually need them. Also provisioned infrastructure with automated Chef-based setups and wrote cookbooks to deploy and configure OpenTelemetry Collector and Fluent Bit on Windows, streaming logs reliably into New Relic. Day to day work includes building and improving CI/CD pipelines (including a back-merge pipeline integrated with the release pipeline), automating manual workflows, and partnering with teams to make telemetry more useful and less noisy. Tools used most are New Relic, OpenTelemetry, Fluent Bit, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Terraform, Chef, Git/GitHub, and Buildkite. Looking for DevOps/SRE opportunities at product-based companies where observability, platform reliability, and cost-efficient engineering are taken seriously—and where there is room to keep refining how systems are monitored and operated.

    • Stopped ingestion of 30 TB of low-value telemetry into New Relic by identifying unused metrics, removing non-actionable logs, and increasing Kubernetes metrics scrape intervals, while still maintaining critical SLO coverage. • Decreased log ingestion volume by 20% through intelligent log pipeline redesign, implementing selective filtering, and focusing on high-value audit events while eliminating redundant noise. • Fine-tuned Kubernetes alerting rules for observability-owned pods, dramatically reducing false alerts and alert fatigue—enabling on-call engineers to focus on real incidents and improving incident response quality. • Provisioned cloud infrastructure with automated Chef-based installations, authoring custom cookbooks to deploy and configure OpenTelemetry Collector and Fluent Bit on Windows infrastructure for reliable log shipping to New Relic. • Built back-merge pipeline integrated with release pipeline, eliminating manual merge workflows and reducing release overhead by automating safe code synchronization across branches. • Designed and implemented new CI/CD pipelines to automate previously manual deployment processes, reducing release cycle time and minimizing human error across teams. • Collaborated cross-functionally with platform and product teams to identify telemetry gaps, implement observability improvements, and drive adoption of metrics-driven development practices.
