I'm Sumit Sharma, a Data Science and Applications undergraduate at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras — one of India's most prestigious institutions — with a clear mission: to build intelligent, data-driven systems that solve real problems. My journey into tech didn't start in a classroom. It started with curiosity — the kind that makes you pull apart how things work and wonder how they could work better. That curiosity led me to Python, which quickly became my primary tool for turning ideas into working solutions. From scripting and automation to exploring machine learning pipelines, Python has been the foundation I keep building on. I've sharpened my understanding of modern development practices through hands-on certifications — including Spec-Driven Development with LLMs and Git & GitHub — which taught me not just how to write code, but how to write code that scales, collaborates, and ships. In a world where AI is reshaping how software is built, I believe understanding the full development lifecycle — from specification to deployment — is what separates good engineers from great ones. Before diving deep into tech, I wore a different hat. As Social Media Director and Manager at K91 Fitness, I led content strategy, designed posters and ads, and managed brand presence across social platforms. That experience gave me something most engineers undervalue: the ability to communicate. I learned how to read an audience, craft a message, and drive engagement — skills that now make me a stronger collaborator and product thinker. What drives me is the intersection of AI, data, and impact. I'm fascinated by how machine learning models can uncover patterns invisible to the human eye, how large language models are redefining human-computer interaction, and how data pipelines can power decisions at scale. My goal is to contribute meaningfully to this space — as an AI/ML engineer who doesn't just build models, but builds systems that matter. I'm currently seeking internship and project opportunities in AI, ML, and data science where I can apply my skills, learn from experienced teams, and deliver real value.
