    • As part of my student selected component in Year 3, I was delighted to work alongside Mr. Ikenna Omeje (M.D., Ph.D.) at the East Midlands Congenital Heart Centre, where I had the opportunity to shadow clinics and theatre. • I had the privilege of observing surgical procedures such as valve repairs, repair of Tetralogy of Fallot, and Norwood’s procedure to treat hypoplastic left heart syndrome. • I worked with Mr. Omeje on a research project comparing the use of biological and prosthetic grafts on neonates over the past few years. • I had also written a 2000 word case study as part of our SSC on the surgical correction of transposition of the great arteries, in which I was awarded an assessment mark of 95/100 and an overall grade of excellent.
