I joined Boston Public Schools (BPS) in November 2024 as Deputy Chief of Communications and Press Secretary It is a privilege to be part of an award-winning Communications team that serves the students and families of Boston. As a strategic communications and public relations professional, I am skilled in developing and implementing systems to drive measurable outcomes. A journalist for more than ten years, I am a skilled writer and communicator. I have a deep understanding of the media landscape and enterprising content across multiple platforms. I have a keen ability to anticipate communication needs. Prior to joining BPS, I served as the Director of Communications for Cambridge Public Schools (CPS) for three years leading an award-winning team. In collaboration with the superintendent and Executive Leadership Team, we oversaw and shaped the communications strategy for a district of approximately 7,000 students. Prior to joining CPS, I served as Director of Communications of Waterbury Public Schools (WPS), one of the largest school districts in Connecticut, for two years. I joined WPS just a few months prior to the pandemic and was instrumental in leading the district’s communications strategy during an unprecedented time. I am passionate, extremely dedicated, thorough and detail-oriented. I give 100% to each task regardless of its scale.

    Serve as district's primary spokesperson, overseeing proactive and crisis communications. Created and implemented an evolving communications framework and strategy for a school district of approximately 19,000 students and 3,000 educators. Advise Superintendent regarding key decisions related to communications and engagement. Collaborate closely with fellow Senior Cabinet members to manage district operations. Develop innovative content through a variety of marketing strategies to highlight and advance the district’s pursuit of academic excellence and educational equity. Write and review all internal and external communications on behalf of the Superintendent for the Board of Education, students, staff, families and community stakeholders. Ensure communications are prepared in multiple languages. Manage all media inquiries, including Freedom of Information requests, news releases and news conferences. Assumed Webmaster role for district website and social media accounts. Leading current redesign and rebranding of district website. Launched and implemented ParentSquare, an online communications platform, in August 2020 at 30 schools, achieving 100% connectivity to a parent/guardian of every student. Administer ongoing training for administrators and teachers on ParentSquare. Implemented Thoughtexchange as a method of qualitative and quantitative data collection. Collaborate closely with the City of Waterbury Mayor’s Office in advancing district mission and vision. Appointed to Greater Waterbury Cable Council. COVID-19 Pandemic: Co-developed Waterbury Public Schools’ Reopening Plan for 2020-2021 school year. Developed and implemented COVID-19 positive case notification process. Wrote multiple communications and organized multiple news conferences regarding transitions in instructional model in a timely and transparent manner.
