I use computer technology to create "realistic renditions" of classical orchestral music compositions. Hereby I employ a MIDI sequencer (Cakewalk) and a set of sample libraries (among them Garritan Personal Orchestra 5) to record classical orchestra scores. In more than 30 years I have developed my unique technique to achieve an individual interpretation of the music. I have been commissioned to create music for films according to specifications from director and producer. With my special rendition technique it is possible to create highly customised versions of the music which can be exactly tailored to the needs and the creative vision of the film, regarding duration, emphasis, musical flow.
I create renditions of music on my PC with sequencer, synthesizer(s) and sample libraries. The emphasis is on a natural musical rendition of classical music which is aiming at achieving a sound that traditional orchestras produce. I "play" each instrument of an orchestra score on my MIDI keyboard and mix then the different instrument tracks together to a homogeneous recording. I am also using this technique to record my own music compositions.
Research, development, and teaching in topics related to the interface between human and computer, with applications in multimedia information systems, within creative context, and computer music. This includes augmented reality, visualization, mobile devices, and web applications. Supervision of PhD students. I also have done R&D in the realm of computers and music: developed a concept of Western music morphology, and developed a novel method for music visualisation based on 2D Fourier transform.
During my 2-year military service at the Bundeswehr I was a member of the classical music ensemble as pianist under the direction of OLT Ruckriegel. We did perform classical music compositions (Schubert songs, Vivaldi sonatas) at various occasions.
