I provided operational support for the micro-focus X-ray beamline at Diamond Light Source and acted as a single point of contact for user experiments providing specialist technical/scientific advice. · I produced major developments of data acquisition, visualization and analysis software and I was involved in the commissioning of new software and hardware. I had produced many new automated beamline controls systems in Python/Jython. · I was involved in beamline upgrades, development projects, including leading projects for new components and setups of the beamline such as the design, installation, testing and commissioning of new detectors. · I developed my own research program including supervision of PDRAs and PhDs.
I worked in the Laboratory of Advanced Catalysis for Sustainability conducting research into new battery technologies as well as managing other reserch group members in projects revolving around development of new materials. · I conducted research into Zinc Bromide and alkyl magnesium battery technology using ionic liquids as electrolytes. · I managed a sub-group of PhDs and PDRAs and lab operations. · I delivered lectures, tutorials, and workshops to undergraduates in Chemistry. · I wrote and published scientific peer-reviewed manuscripts and grant applications.
I led a scientific consortium for projects associated with ultrafast, laser pump-probe X-ray spectroscopy. · I provided advanced data analysis and wrote many successful research proposals. · I led and setup highly complex laser pump X-ray probe experiments leading to high impact publications. · I was highly collaborative having to work with several UK universities and Diamond Light Source. · I developed new experimental methodologies for projects using synchrotron radiation, using Python to perform complex data analysis of spectroscopic data and using open-source software to apply models and statistical analysis.
