Leads and manages the delivery of strategic and operational activities and initiatives within the Financial Strategy Branch to ensure compliance with internal and external drivers, policies, practices and relevant statutory requirements. Specifically, this incorporates oversight of internal reporting, monitoring requirements and associated recommendations, financial business partnering, preparation of internal budgets and projections, capital management and financial analysis and evaluation.
The position of Management Accountant leads budgeting and management reporting for defined areas within NSW Police and provide critical input into financial strategy and systems from the perspective of the customer base that they serve. The positions ensure that timely reports are provided to the relevant Executive team members and managers within nominated areas, reflecting critical and predictive analysis of financial performance against objectives and targets of relevant cost centres. Further they ensure that users (including non-financial staff) have appropriate skills to use financial information to identify better and more efficient ways to use funds within NSW Police. They contribute to ensuring that the financial reporting system is accurate and meets client, organisation, government, professional and legislative requirements. The position is required to represent Financial Services on various major projects, major event planning and implementation of financial strategies.
