As Production Flow- / Process Engineer I am a member of the production team and technically responsible for the assigned production flow. This consists of a wide range of processes, starting from the manufacture of metal pipes, up to the assembly and packaging of the shock absorbers. A large part of these processes are highly automated. I am responsible for the achievement of departmental objectives (safety, quality, delivery, cost). And I work closely with the supervisor and the support departments (maintenance, quality, safety, logistics, R&D). I lead and take part in the daily department meetings and represents the technical part of the department. Using the KPI's that I monitor and analyze, I define and implement proactive improvement actions. Furthermore; • Represent the department in project teams for large investments and new product launches, • Optimizes the use of the machinery in the department (OEE) • Act as a contact for larger machine breakdowns, • Investigate/analyse of customer complaints (8D, 5WHY, Ishikawa, ...) • Put on continuous improvement initiatives (5S, Kaizen events, cost reduction, ...) • Control preventive maintenance
My function within Contiweb is to be an All-round field service engineer. Being flexible and adaptable is an absolutely must for this job. I spend more than 80% of the time abroad. Work in the weekend, holidays and flew around the world if necessary. I started in the assembly by helping to build up the machines and learning how they work. After a few weeks I travelled together with an experienced colleagues to provide PAM’s (Pro Active Maintenance) on the machines. This means doing a mechanical and electrical check-up and if necessary repair broken parts. Making sure the machine is back in running within the required time. After collecting some experience with the machines, diagnosing and troubleshooting was added to my function. Unexpected travelling to customers for a breakdown. Check for mechanical or electrical problems. Or diagnose the machine with special made software. Also ‘Tech Support’ belongs to this topic. This is the 24/7service Contiweb offers the customers. From the headquarters in Boxmeer we help customers by phone and email while we can look into the machine with the special diagnose software. The next step was to help with installations and modifications. Rebuild or modify an old machine. Make a mechanical and/or electrical retrofit and exchange to the newest software. Reinstalling the machine at the customer and making sure everything was planned on time. I also had the opportunity to help Contiweb in the steps toward the inkjet industry. Because the digital printing industry is growing and the digital printers are getting bigger, Contiweb got the request (From HP) to design new heavy duty machines special for the digital market. Contiweb made two machines called the CD and the CR. The CD (Contiweb Digital) is a splicer/unwinder special made for providing the digital press line for nonstop printing paper. The CR (Contiweb Rewinder) is a splicer/rewinder made for nonstop rewinding the printed paper.
Elenco specializes in business automation. As a commissioning engineer/project engineer, I am involved in building and customizing new / old installations. The programming of PLC's (T-box, Siemens), commissioning and troubleshooting at the customer belong to my responsibilities. In the position of commissioning engineer I assemble / modify / test equipment in the field. I am able to manage a small team of specialists (both internal and external staff) and guide them along with the customers for a good end result. I am able to handle both the demands and wishes of the customer and myself to combine in such a way that everyone is satisfied with the result. I have to be a versatile technician. I am also able to translate problems into improvements. Of course, as a commissioning engineer, I had to spend several months a year abroad I also had the following tasks: • Undertake all preparatory work for the installation of equipment; • Assembling and commissioning of the plant; • Contact our customer site; • Leading colleagues and local staff; • Reporting to the Project Manager
T & M Solutions builds inspection, testing, measuring and precision assembly systems for customers around the world. My job as a service engineer was to maintain, build, tune and test the machines both at home and at the customer. As a Commissioning Engineer / Field Service Engineer in the support department I often got involved in the process with the creation of customized machines. After the installation of the machines at the customer site I was responsible for the maintenance and problem solving aspects abroad. Not only technical aspects played a role, I had to take ownership over the projects. The transfer of technical knowledge for production and maintenance is also part of my job. Besides your practical work at the customer site I was an important knowledge provider for further improvement of machine concepts. As a field service engineer I have worked closely with project managers and engineers, who can also support in the technical field.
