QE & QC Manager Unity Furniture Co., Ltd. | May 2015 – Present Lead Quality Engineering and Quality Control operations for export furniture manufacturing, serving major North American buyers including Costco, Walmart, Sam’s Club, Room to Go, AFW, Bob’s Discount, Liberty, and others. Develop and implement quality systems, procedures, and risk controls aligned with US and Canadian market requirements. Drive preventive quality planning, root cause analysis, and Corrective Action Plans (CAP) to resolve issues and prevent recurrence. Manage white wood, veneer, cutting, lamination, sanding, distressing, finishing, packaging, and loading quality. Establish inspection standards for raw materials (solid wood, veneer, MDF, PB, plywood), moisture control, veneer grade/orientation, and construction accuracy. Lead Pre-Production Review (PPR), PPS, First Sample, First Piece, and pilot run approvals in collaboration with Product Development and Production. Review BOMs, drawings, and specifications to ensure alignment before mass production. Control finishing systems including color panels, finishing steps, sheen, drying time, and top coat performance. Coordinate with finishing technicians to finalize approved finishing standards for mass production. Oversee final inspection, warehouse inspection, and container loading, ensuring compliance with buyer-specific requirements and FIFO shipment control. Manage product testing and compliance including BIFMA (X5.1, X6.4, X6.5), CPSIA lead, flammability, anti-tip, chemical testing, FSC, TSCA, and CARB P2. Support and pass buyer audits such as Costco (GM, Social, SCAN) and Walmart (FCCA, SMETA, SCA). Lead and train a 15-member QC team, working closely with key subcontractors (white wood, veneer, upholstery, metal) to ensure PPS approval and quality alignment across the supply chain.
Operator/QC
Followed up PPS schedules and translated key buyer requirements to ensure full factory understanding and execution. Verified White Wood PPS, Finishing PPS, pre-packing approvals, and drop testing prior to mass production. Conducted internal BIFMA X5.1 and X6.4 construction and performance testing to ensure product strength and safety. Coordinated with factory teams before production to verify all materials complied with customer specifications and approved spec sheets. Performed first assembly inspections to confirm products matched drawings and approved samples. Led pilot runs to train production teams on customer requirements and signed off approved finishing samples for production reference. Monitored production quality to ensure ongoing compliance with buyer standards. Acted as the primary liaison between customer QC and factory teams to control quality risks and prevent issues. Created and issued label instruction lists, confirming all labeling requirements with the factory. Reviewed and confirmed AI files and artwork prior to production release. Planned and executed final inspections, including creation of final inspection schedules.
