I am semi-retired, live on Fuerteventura, and am always looking for opportunities I am Chairperson of The Tablet Academy, a remarkable group of franchise companies located in 26 countries who deliver independent strategic consultancy, training, and engagement workshops in Digital Transformation to public and private sector organisations at the local, regional, national and international level. In 2025 I was appointed Patron of the Future Ready Foundation, a UK Charity founded by Tablet Academy Ltd and PrimaryGoal Ltd, whose aim is to make best use of funding from philanthropic and government sources to develop and execute targeted programmes to assist people from all age groups and backgrounds to gain the skills nessessary to thrive and compete in a world that is increasingly engaging with digital technologies, including AI. My expertise is spreads across organisations from the public and private sectors. As a Microsoft Professor of Advanced Learning Technologies since 1994, and an Apple Distinguished Educator since 2001, I provide strategic advice on digital transformnation policy to Governments, Companies and other organisations, including the EU and UNESCO. My achievements include working with ATARI, Intel, Ariolasoft, and many other companies on innovative technologies. 1995 Developed one of the first online learning platforms. 1996 Appointed Media Fellow at the BBC and created one of the first ‘live’ online science magazines. 1997 Developed with CISCO and others the concept of a UK National Grid for Learning. 1999 Assisted the Scottish Parliament in developing a Digital Economy strategy. 1999 Founded with Microsoft and ICL 'The Learning Lab' an Academic/Industry partnership. 2000 Director of the UK National Research Centre into ICT in Education. 2001 Partnered with the US DoD on the Advanced Distributed Learning Programme. 2005 Advisor in technology-based training to the UK Deputy Chief of Defence Staff 2008 Advisor to the board of Cambridge University Press 2012 Founded The Tablet Academy (TA Education). 2018 Together with the Royal Air Force Museums and Northrop Grumman developed an Advanced Aerospace STEM outreach programme for schools. 2018 Located to the Canary Islands as part of semi-retirement 2019 Franchised the Tablet Academy brand across 26 countries. 2020 Together with PrimaryGoal developed a UK Apprentiship Programme in Digital Transformation. 2021 Cofounded 12:42 Studios, a video production company. 2022 TA launches TATECHTIPS on TikTok with currently over 3.4 million followers. 2025 Became Patron of the UK Charity The Future Ready Foundation.
