Mercuria Environmental Products: Design and development of the risk framework and project management systems to oversee and risk manage the diverse portfolio. Design of a portfolio management platform to enable the efficient management of long term off-takes. Working with in-country local partners to develop robust systems that enable scale and drive high quality credits, including Paris 6.2 projects/programs. This includes design and oversight of safeguards, monitoring activities, community benefits and project management. • Part of the Low Carbon Trading (LCT) Leadership Team • Development and management of the LCT technical Center of Excellence with the objective of providing best in class project, portfolio and risk management for the LCT environmental products • Managing a multi-national portfolio of emission reduction/removal projects: California (ARBOCs), Upstream Emission Reductions (UERs), China Domestic (CCER), Australia CFI (ACCUs), CDM (CERs), voluntary (ERTs, CRTs, VCUs) and several other programs • Portfolio management and reporting (volume, value, exposures and risks) • Risk management - maintaining a risk register to track and mitigate risks, communicating material project risks and mitigation actions • Origination support - drafting/reviewing offset purchase contracts, service agreements and technical due diligence • Technical assessment and due diligence of many project types: methane based projects, forestry, ozone depleting substances, renewables and REDD+ • Technical review of projects regarding the carbon accounting, monitoring, quality control and verification of credits • Site visits to inspect projects or attend verifications • Contracting and project management of the development of a blockchain based application to automate a credit generation process (auto ingestion of data, forecasting, data processing and reporting with a full audit trail and process optimisation) • Support to the development of differentiated products to develop programs and methodologies that could deliver scalable robust environmental products • Development of an offset project management application to enable enhanced project/portfolio management
• Managed the implementation of the carbon off-set portfolio (300 projects; 20 countries), maximising portfolio value and managing technical risks. 19 million credits issued. • Led a global team of 70 staff. • Assessed generation and energy efficiency projects: checked eligibility, metering, record keeping and emission calculations prior to recommending credit issuance. • Managed and assessed third party assurance audits. • Contributed to the ongoing development of the technical rules and guidance to generators measuring greenhouse intensity (near-real time measurements).
• Conducted assurance audits for the NSW Greenhouse Gas Abatement Scheme. Produced audit plans, managed the audit process and delivered assurance reports. • Analyst for a greenhouse gas assessment of a coal tailings power station. • Assessed project impacts and provided advice to a client regarding the planning process and environmental requirements for a 110 MW wind farm.
