I’m the co-founder and CEO of Backwoods Brewing, a family business based in the Columbia River Gorge. We’ve grown from a small-town brewery into a company that now includes multiple pubs, a grocery store, and a cabins property. I came to Backwoods after leaving a career in public accounting, and I’ve spent the last decade figuring out how to grow a business that supports our team, serves our customers, and contributes to the communities we’re part of. We also launched the Backwoods Foundation to help fight childhood hunger in our region. Outside of work, I’m a husband and dad of four. They’re the reason I do it all.
Manage accounting and financial transactions for a rapidly growing brewery in the Pacific Northwest. Through combined efforts with the Chief Executive Officer, responsible for negotiating and accounting for external financing of assets. Responsible for federal and state regulatory and taxation reporting. Established inventory accounting based on brewery recipes and brew staff wages.
Management, strategic, and financial consulting for small to mid-size businesses. Specializing in manufacturing, hospitality, and beverage industries. Projects include profitability and cash flow consulting, debt and equity raise projects including proposal and write-up preparation, mergers and acquisition consulting, and business plan review.
Manage accounting over investments and endowments of the University. Manage employee home loan program tracking. Conduct research projects and other initiatives at the request of the Controller. Work with various tax issues including preparation of the forms 990, 990T, FBAR, and 1042 Non-Resident Alien filings. Report directly to the Controller of the University.
Running engagements involving the auditing of financial statements of companies located primarily on the west coast. Experience in the financial processes of not-for-profit companies, banks, manufacturing companies, utility providers, and technology companies. Also had some experience in the tax department of the firm.
