I led the development of the West of England Sport Trust (Wesport) out of local authority control to independence, creating a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity (April 2006). Skills and experience gained include creating and implementing a vision for Wesport, recruiting high quality trustees, recruiting and managing the team, day to day, governance and financial responsibilities linked to independent status. With my team, we have particularly demonstrated improvements in services to National Governing Bodies of Sport, coaching and volunteering services, and event planning / management.
Part time secondment as the strategic lead for the CSP Network on 2012 sporting legacy, advising and guiding the CSPN Board and Executive Director to ensure CSPs provide a coordinated and coherent 2012 legacy offer. I am the Chairman of the Community Games National Steering Group, delivering a major national programme in partnership with YMCA England.
This role was achieved alongside my Chief Executive role. I worked as a consultant with UK Sport, the Indian Government and the Indian Basketball Federation to provide the sport’s governing body with advice and guidance on implementing their long term strategy.
When I took the lead role, the Sussex Sports Partnership had formed 18 months earlier. I took responsibility for an existing team, refocusing priorities and role responsibilities. I worked with a wide range of partners to achieve shared goals.
