About

I’m a qualified Mountain Leader working freelance as a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award instructor and assessor, delivering outdoor education and multi-day hillwalking expeditions across the UK and Ireland. My work centres on leading young people safely through challenging upland environments while building confidence, resilience, and teamwork. I specialise in navigation training, group management in remote terrain, and dynamic risk assessment in variable mountain weather. I regularly operate in exposed conditions where sound judgement, calm decision-making, and clear communication are essential. Alongside my outdoor work, I bring a practical background in carpentry and joinery and long experience managing logistics and teams in other industries. This gives me a strong, hands-on approach to problem-solving and planning in the field. I’m always interested in connecting with outdoor education providers, instructors, and organisations working in youth development and expedition leadership.
