Largest consulting society at Cambridge University, serving over 3,000 undergraduate and postgraduate student members, facilitating skill development, profile-building, networking opportunities and providing unique exposure to the consulting industry via a vast portfolio of events and projects. Engineers Without Borders Cambridge; In collaboration with the WindAid Institute - WindAid Project Developing small-scale hydropower solutions for rural communities in the Peruvian Andes, following implementation of wind-power project: ● Collaborating with a team of ~35 students (working within smaller group of four as part of Earth Science Division) to develop affordable small-scale hydropower for rural communities in rural communities in Vaquería, Peru; Liaising with an on-field team in collaboration with the WindAid Institute, based in Trujillo, Peru. ● Formulated hydrogeological river survey guide for on-field team to gather data (incl. river flowrate, depth & width, and sediment analysis). ● Analysed data findings gathered from 12 sites (50m intervals) along river; Visualised using RStudio and GIS software, presented to the engineering division; Insights to determine optimal location, position and design of hydroelectric turbines.
Spring Work Experience ● Conducted active travel assessments to evaluate feasibility of ~2km pedestrian routes from new residential development site to town centre in South Norfolk; Feasibility framework based on pedestrian attractiveness, comfort & safety, and existing infrastructure. ● Assisted in drafting transport statements, evaluating existing transportation networks for commercial real estate projects intended to boost regeneration of Harlow town-centre; Assessed alignment with Harlow Council’s Local Development Plan (2020) policies & long-term strategies. ● Visualised commuter data from Cambridge MSOAs into isochrone maps using QGIS, supporting planning application for new student housing development at a University of Cambridge College.
