I am an experienced R&D leader, with a track record of success both in commercial and academic environments. My passion is to see the application of science to deliver impact and new products; especially biostimulants and speciality fertilisers. My background is as a crop physiologist, and I have extensive research experience in horticulture and agriculture.
I managed a team based in the UK, which develops and sells biostimulant products, as well as conducting biological trials to support Croda Agriculture activities.
I was the Research and Technology Director for Plant Impact Plc, (acquired by Croda International Plc). We focused on research and development of biostimulants to create foliar spray and seed treatment products that growers can rely on to increase the yield and quality of their crops.
I led a wide portfolio of strategic and applied horticultural research, much of which had an industry focus. My research focused on the physiology of glasshouse crops, investigating and modelling how the aerial environment affects plant growth and development, together with projects on climate change, food security and energy use. The role also involved MSc teaching and PhD supervision.
I was a Principle Investigator and Protected Crops Commodity Specialist at Horticulture Research International, managing a team focusing on the physiology of glasshouse crops.
