Staffing and organizational challenges dominated initial time in this role, providing oversight for over a dozen hires in the first year growing the team. Took on additional responsibilities for the FPGA development, verification teams and vendor interfaces. Drove Dell-unique radio developer proficiency levels and roles, requirements trace and analysis process, and overall development & test methodology for distributed teams in Canada & India. Coordinated and co-authored SRED and NTIA material for applications for $xxM programs. Established consistent working relationship model for suppliers, pushing appropriate responsibility, process and trace on both Dell prime contact and supplier deliverables. Fostered development of sustainable automation and test infrastructure for Agilex FPGA development with MATLAB.
Cockpit System & Software Engineering Manager Responsible for requirements and software development for a team of up to 25 engineers. Coordinated group of over 60 engineers across multiple sites to deliver DAL-D level aerospace satellite communication systems (Aspire 400) for Transport Canada certification.
Responsible for terminal and modem software development teams. Spearheaded requirements analysis for several new satellite and cellular product and product line introductions. Supported post-acquisition transfer of 7M $US of equipment and intellectual property, over 1Mloc for both Network and Modem design documentation and software. Undertook initiative to import several hundred thousand lines of software into SVN, preserving versioning, tags and branches for over ten years of product, service and utility development. Worked with senior management on several patent and customer retention related initiatives.
Active senior technical leader and architect of network cloud services, administration and billing systems. Responsible for fault tolerant high availability message handling and distribution between ground segments and global customer premises. My role included building and leading winning development teams, culture and processes, leading to a $130M acquisition in January 2015. SkyWave was a winner of Deloitte’s 2012 Technology Fast 500 awards and named to Connected World Top 100 List for 2014.
